Scooper Star

One of the iconic lines from Impractical Jokers is "Scoopski Potatoes," which came from a bit where the guys had to randomly put scoops of mashed potatoes onto the plates of unsuspecting restaurant guests.

Because it was such a popular bit, we decided to use the "Scoopski Potatoes" concept as part of a larger campaign leading up to Comic Con in San Diego. We created a Scoopski Potato food truck and decided to hire a star scooper or "scooperstar" to work in the truck at Comic Con.

We created a real job post on LinkedIn and a contest was held, where hundreds of fans submitted their audition videos.

After a winner was selected, the truck was driven across the country from New York to San Diego, stopping at Impractical Jokers live comedy shows along the way. The campaign generated over 11M social impressions, 255k engagements and 69K clicks on the LinkedIn job posting.

And when Impractical Joker, Joe Gatto, showed up to meet the winning contestant, I was there to show the fans. As part of the overall Impractical Jokers Comic Con campaign, I also conceptualized the various Jokers-themed food trucks at the block party and co-produced the live digital pre-show with all of the Jokers.
